Our Approach

Thoughtful care starts withunderstanding you.

Bloom offers comprehensive, evidence-based and individualized psychiatric care, rooted in women's health and extended across the lifespan.

Bloom Psychiatry is committed to individualized, evidence-based care tailored to each patient's history, needs and goals, delivered with compassion, respect and clinical excellence, so every patient can navigate their mental health with confidence and support at every step.

Our roots

Bloom began in women's health.

As a women's health nurse practitioner, Dr. Lauren Hansen saw how often patients disclosed untreated depression, anxiety, trauma and emotional distress during routine gynecologic visits. Many had never been formally diagnosed or treated. For some, that visit was the only health care appointment they had all year. Some were coping on their own in ways that weren't helping.

Those visits rarely had the time, trust and continuity that mental health care needs. So she built a practice that does.

That perspective still shapes how we practice. Most of the patients we care for are women, and we also see adolescents and men who want the same kind of careful psychiatric care.

What guides our care

Four things that matterin every visit.

Your story matters.

Symptoms are important. So is when they started, what was happening around them, how they've changed and how they affect your life.

Diagnosis matters.

Similar symptoms can mean different things. Understanding the pattern, history, timing and context helps us determine what may actually be happening.

The whole person matters.

Sleep, physical health, current medications, relationships and stress, developmental stage, hormonal and reproductive transitions, life circumstances. Context helps us understand symptoms more clearly.

Treatment isn't one-size-fits-all.

Two people with the same diagnosis can need very different plans. Yours considers your history, previous treatment response, other health conditions, side effects, preferences and goals.

Our clinical lens

Hormones can matter.They're context, not a catch-all.

Mental health can change across the lifespan: adolescence, the reproductive years, pregnancy, postpartum, perimenopause and menopause. When it's relevant, your women's health history belongs in the psychiatric conversation: menstrual patterns, pregnancy and postpartum history, contraception, fertility treatment and the menopause transition.

But women are more than their hormones. Relationships, work, caregiving, physical health, medications, stress, trauma, identity and life circumstances matter too. Good care considers the whole person.

Education & ongoing support

You should understandyour care.

Questions belong in the treatment conversation. We explain our reasoning at every stage, monitor closely and adjust thoughtfully.

  • What are we treating?
  • Why this approach?
  • What should you expect?
  • What are we monitoring?
  • When should we follow up?
You don't have to wait for a crisis to ask for help.
